About Bakaliarakia tou Damigou

A family-run basement taverna beneath Brettos bar, open since 1864 and famous for one dish: crisp battered salt cod with garlic sauce. Plaka is the oldest neighbourhood of Athens, a maze of lanes and neoclassical houses below the Acropolis, with tavernas, small museums and shops; it is largely pedestrian and best explored on foot. Athenians dine late, usually from 21:00, so book ahead for weekend dinners, especially at the best-known tables.

Opening hours, prices and seasonal openings change, so please check with Bakaliarakia tou Damigou before you go.
