About Numismatic Museum
One of the world's great coin collections, from ancient Greek drachmas to modern money, housed in Iliou Melathron, the lavish mansion built for Heinrich Schliemann, with a lovely garden café. Closed on Tuesdays. Syntagma is the heart of modern Athens, around the square facing the Parliament, where the Evzones guard the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier; Ermou, the main shopping street, and the National Garden start here, and the metro runs straight to the airport. Opening hours change between summer and winter and many museums close one day a week, so check before you go.
