O Glykis
Old-school kafeneio
About O Glykis
An old-school kafeneio with worn blue tables, named after the Greek word for a sweet coffee. Thick Greek coffee, ouzo or tsipouro with meze, marinated anchovies and backgammon. Plaka is the oldest neighbourhood of Athens, a maze of lanes and neoclassical houses below the Acropolis, with tavernas, small museums and shops; it is largely pedestrian and best explored on foot. Greek coffee culture is unhurried: order a freddo espresso or freddo cappuccino, the iced coffees Athenians drink almost all year, and linger as long as you like.
Opening hours, prices and seasonal openings change, so please check with O Glykis before you go.
