About Archelon Sea Turtle Rescue Centre
Run by Archelon, the Sea Turtle Protection Society of Greece, the centre nurses injured loggerhead turtles back to health before returning them to the sea. Families can visit and meet the volunteers and their patients. Glyfada is the liveliest town on the Athens Riviera, about 17 km south of the centre, with smart shopping streets, marinas, beach clubs and seafront cafés, and the coastal tram runs here from the city. The coastal tram and buses connect the Riviera with the centre, and a taxi from Syntagma takes about half an hour outside rush hour.
