About Temple of Poseidon, Sounio

The marble Temple of Poseidon, built in the 5th century BC, stands on a clifftop at the southern tip of Attica and is one of the most spectacular sunset spots in Greece. From Glyfada it's about an hour's drive down the coast road past Vouliagmeni, Varkiza and Lagonisi. Cape Sounion, at the southern tip of Attica, is crowned by the Temple of Poseidon, famous for its sunsets over the Aegean, about 70 km from Athens. The coastal tram and buses connect the Riviera with the centre, and a taxi from Syntagma takes about half an hour outside rush hour.

Opening hours, prices and seasonal openings change, so please check with Temple of Poseidon, Sounio before you go.
