TGI Fridays in the old town, on Kapnikareas Street by the little Byzantine church of Kapnikarea, just off Ermou Street between Plaka, Monastiraki and Syntagma: burgers, ribs, fajitas, sharing platters and cocktails, handy after a day's sightseeing. Plaka is the oldest neighbourhood of Athens, a maze of lanes and neoclassical houses below the Acropolis, with tavernas, small museums and shops; it is largely pedestrian and best explored on foot. It is a quick, familiar stop when you want something fast between sights.
