About Museum of the City of Athens

The story of 19th-century Athens told in the house where King Otto and Queen Amalia lived before the royal palace was built, with period furniture, paintings and a large model of the city in 1842. Syntagma is the heart of modern Athens, around the square facing the Parliament, where the Evzones guard the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier; Ermou, the main shopping street, and the National Garden start here, and the metro runs straight to the airport. Opening hours change between summer and winter and many museums close one day a week, so check before you go.
