About Mitropoleos & Pandrosou Streets

Running from Syntagma past the cathedral to Monastiraki Square, Mitropoleos and narrow, pedestrian Pandrosou are packed with handmade leather sandals, jewellery, icons, olive-wood and souvenir shops, leading on to the flea market streets around Ifestou. Monastiraki is the lively bazaar quarter below the Acropolis, with its flea market, Ottoman mosque, the Ancient Agora and rooftop bars facing the Parthenon, and its metro station links to the airport and Piraeus. Shops in central Athens usually open Monday to Saturday, with longer hours on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, while many in Plaka and Monastiraki also open on Sundays.

Opening hours, prices and seasonal openings change, so please check with Mitropoleos & Pandrosou Streets before you go.
