A string of rocky coves with deep, crystal-clear water between Vouliagmeni and Varkiza. No sunbeds or facilities, just swimming off the rocks, so bring water and good shoes. Vouliagmeni is the most exclusive corner of the Athens Riviera, about 20 km south of the centre, with clear water, the Astir peninsula, the mineral-water Vouliagmeni Lake and smart seafront restaurants. Many organised beaches charge for entry or sunbeds in summer, and the sea is warm enough for swimming from June to October.
