About Basil & Elise Goulandris Foundation
Opened in 2019 in a 1920s neoclassical mansion with a ten-storey extension, showing the Goulandris collection of modern masters such as Van Gogh, Cézanne, Picasso and Giacometti alongside great Greek artists. Pangrati is a lively residential neighbourhood behind the Panathenaic Stadium, where the first modern Olympic Games were held in 1896, with local tavernas, cafés and bars around its squares. Opening hours change between summer and winter and many museums close one day a week, so check before you go.
