A Plaka landmark and one of Athens' oldest distilleries, famous for its glowing wall of coloured bottles. Try the house liqueurs and ouzo. Plaka is the oldest neighbourhood of Athens, a maze of lanes and neoclassical houses below the Acropolis, with tavernas, small museums and shops; it is largely pedestrian and best explored on foot. Athens nights start late, with bars filling after 22:00 and many staying open into the small hours.
