A string of free public beaches beside the marinas, several with Blue Flag status and some with free umbrellas. Locals say the third beach has the best sand and the cleanest water. Glyfada is the liveliest town on the Athens Riviera, about 17 km south of the centre, with smart shopping streets, marinas, beach clubs and seafront cafés, and the coastal tram runs here from the city. Beach clubs charge for sunbeds, and the best spots go early at summer weekends, so book ahead.
