About Museum of Greek Folk Musical Instruments
A charming small museum in an 1842 mansion beside the Roman Agora, showing more than 1,200 traditional Greek instruments, from lyras and bouzoukis to bagpipes and drums, with headphones to hear each one played. Concerts are held in the garden in summer. Closed on Tuesdays. Plaka is the oldest neighbourhood of Athens, a maze of lanes and neoclassical houses below the Acropolis, with tavernas, small museums and shops; it is largely pedestrian and best explored on foot. Opening hours change between summer and winter and many museums close one day a week, so check before you go.
Opening hours, prices and seasonal openings change, so please check with Museum of Greek Folk Musical Instruments before you go.
