About Café Melina

A retro café dedicated to the actress and Culture Minister Melina Mercouri, full of her memorabilia, serving coffee, meze, crêpes and homemade desserts from morning to late. Plaka is the oldest neighbourhood of Athens, a maze of lanes and neoclassical houses below the Acropolis, with tavernas, small museums and shops; it is largely pedestrian and best explored on foot. Greek coffee culture is unhurried: order a freddo espresso or freddo cappuccino, the iced coffees Athenians drink almost all year, and linger as long as you like.
