Café on the steps
About Yiasemi
Plaka's most photographed café, with tables and cushions lined up the Mnisikleous steps and a jasmine-scented garden. Good for breakfast and all-day brunch, then a drink as the lanterns come on. Plaka is the oldest neighbourhood of Athens, a maze of lanes and neoclassical houses below the Acropolis, with tavernas, small museums and shops; it is largely pedestrian and best explored on foot. Greek coffee culture is unhurried: order a freddo espresso or freddo cappuccino, the iced coffees Athenians drink almost all year, and linger as long as you like.
Opening hours, prices and seasonal openings change, so please check with Yiasemi before you go.
