About Thanasis

A family-run souvlaki institution just off Monastiraki Square since 1964, famous for its kebab in warm pitta. Monastiraki is the lively bazaar quarter below the Acropolis, with its flea market, Ottoman mosque, the Ancient Agora and rooftop bars facing the Parthenon, and its metro station links to the airport and Piraeus. Athenians dine late, usually from 21:00, so book ahead for weekend dinners, especially at the best-known tables.

Opening hours, prices and seasonal openings change, so please check with Thanasis before you go.
